Children's picture book & toy collection
For my senior thesis, I created a picture book and toy collection of a reptile and amphibian baseball team called the Wormies. I was inspired by my experiences playing softball for over 10 years growing up. Most of the teams I was on were very bad, but we still had so much fun playing together, so I aim to convey the shenanigans of being on a sports team.
I’m interested in figuring out how to depict emotion, personality, and actions through unconventional characters, such as animals, to connect with my audience. Reptiles are interesting to me since I own a leopard gecko named Dobby. After reading my dad's National Geographic magazines as a kid, I've always thought natural history fascinating, so I enjoy combining zoology and storytelling.
GO WORMIES GO!
Watch the Wormies take on their rival, the Rodents, this Tuesday at Pond Park!
How would reptiles and amphibians play baseball or softball? Would they hit the ball with their tails? Do they swing twig bats or wear little hats?
Flyball is when pond critters come together to play their version of baseball every spring.
Meet the Wormies, who are trying to score their first win! Scientific facts about the species of the players reveal their personalities, which influence how they play the game. Read to find out if they finally win their last game of the season...
