Jackie Shoemaker is a senior illustration student from Wilmington, Delaware pursuing her BFA at Parsons School of Design in New York City. She’s interested in the fabrication, toy design, and publishing industries, especially the design process of toys, picture books, and print design.
Colored pencils and gouache collages are her ingredients that she mixes with Procreate and Photoshop to bake her children’s book illustrations. Her side dish, toy design, is a medley of action figures and plushies stirred with 3D printing and her family’s sewing machine. She has a passion for creating characters that combine storytelling and zoology, which center on playfulness, humor, and childhood.
Her sleepy senior leopard gecko, named Dobby, supervises Jackie’s work in her NYC studio.
